Saab Training USA participates in Bold Quest 2011 coalition exercise to improve situation awareness among warfighters
Orlando, FL – September 8th to 22nd, 2011 – Saab Training USA will participate in the United States Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) exercise, Bold Quest 2011 on Sept. 8-22, 2011 at Camp Atterbury and Muscatatuck Urban Training complex, Indiana. The Bold Quest exercise is part of a multi-nation Coalition Combat Identification Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration serving to improve combat effectiveness and minimize fratricide. Participants include the United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, National Guard, Special Operations Command and 13 foreign coalition forces – altogether teaming nearly 1,000 service members together in a unified environment.
Saab Training USA will provide Ground Position Location Information (GPLI) for ground units with Instrumented-Tactical Engagement Simulation System (I-TESS). I-TESS will be used among Bold Quest participants to enhance situation awareness and provide precise identification of every player's location. I-TESS is a member of Saab's Deployable Instrumented Training Systems (DITS) family of live training products that provides laser-based force-on-force training with GPLI reporting, battle tracking, data collection and rapid After-Action Reviews (AAR). I-TESS offers real-time situational awareness, exercise control capabilities, and adjudication of direct and indirect fire engagements to help facilitate the training exercise objectives. Exercise players at Bold Quest will utilize data from I-TESS to clearly define ground situations and track friendly forces, opposing forces and even simulated "downed" pilots.
In conjunction with Bold Quest, Saab will also be participating in Distinguished Visitor Day (DV Day) on 15 Sept. at Camp Atterbury and Muscatatuck Urban Training complex, Indiana. DV Day will demonstrate evaluate the mission rehearsal program Virtual Battlespace 2 (VBS2) and I-TESS by presenting VBS2 and I-TESS II AARs.
